Founded in 1939 by Meyer Newman as a prop house for Broadway shows, Newel is now owned and operated by 3rd generation family member, Lewis J. Baer. Newel still maintains a role as a major supplier of period antiques to the theater, motion picture and TV production industries.
Going back to Broadway productions like the original My Fair Lady, Newel has supplied complete furnishings to movie sets for such films as "The Godfather" trilogy and "The Thomas Crown Affair", as well as TV productions such as "All My Children" and "Sex and the City".
Newel's inventory has also been proudly featured in window displays for fine retailers such as Bergdorf Goodman and Polo Ralph Lauren.
